Summary

A BRAND-NEW EDITION, ILLUSTRATED BY QUENTIN BLAKE FOR THE FIRST TIME。

Billy's mum says he must never go out through the garden gate and explore the dark forest beyond。

So, one day, that's exactly what he does!

There he meets the Minpins, tiny tree-dwelling people whose children are the size of matchsticks。

They live in fear of the terrible, galloping GRUNCHER。 Will it gobble Billy too - or can he find a way to defeat the hungry beast?

It is very creative。

Ikke en av Roald Dahls beste, muligens fordi den er blottet for alle humoristiske skildringer som jeg synes er noe av det beste med mine favorittbøker av ham。

This was a fun book。 My 1st grader really liked the minpins。 We did a small unit around this and he guessed it would be about miniature people who lived in trees and would become Billy’s friend。

Loved this book as a child and equally enjoyed it as an adult。 I love the idea of a whole other world in the trees and everytime I walk through a forest I can’t help but feel the same

A lovely story。 Magical and easy to imagine for young readers。 A simple premise and certainly one that will fire the imagination of my two daughters the next time we're entering a wood on a walk in England。The illustrations in the edition we read were vivid and brought the wild birds of Britain to life - yet another thing that can be used as stimulus for other conversations。 A lovely story。 Magical and easy to imagine for young readers。 A simple premise and certainly one that will fire the imagination of my two daughters the next time we're entering a wood on a walk in England。The illustrations in the edition we read were vivid and brought the wild birds of Britain to life - yet another thing that can be used as stimulus for other conversations。 。。。more

First time reading this story。 It was good。 My daughter enjoyed it。 The earlier Dahl books will always be my favourites。 This book keeps up the Dahl tradition of madcap characters。 The ‘feel of it’ as it were is not the same as the Dahl books of my youth。 But it’s probably time that’s giving me that impression。

Munch

An old favourite :)

The story was just okay, but Bill Bailey's narration was what I enjoyed about it。 The story was just okay, but Bill Bailey's narration was what I enjoyed about it。 。。。more

The minpins is a great book about how a boy named Bill has discovered a truly remarkable jungle which has beasts his mom has told him。 But does he believe her? And more importantly will he go in? Read to find out!

i。。 did not like this。 didn't feel like a roald dahl book to me, but maybe that's because i'd not read it as a kid。 i。。 did not like this。 didn't feel like a roald dahl book to me, but maybe that's because i'd not read it as a kid。 。。。more

Father of imagineeringRoald Dahl is the father of imagineering。 Every time I read a book written by him the author in me awakens from the deep slumber。 The following lines from him will remain in my mind until my last breath。。。。And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places。 Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it。

Somehow missed this as a kid but enjoyed discovering it as a parent。 Plot a little thinner than some other Dahl books but there was still ample mischief and memorable monsters。 No doubt the kid will be taking about snozzwangers and wangdoodles for some time to come。

❧ audiobook reviewI hadn’t come across this one as a kid, which is odd because Matilda and The Witches and The Twits are some of my most memorable childhood books/films, but this one is super cute。☆ Blog | Twitter ☆ ❧ audiobook reviewI hadn’t come across this one as a kid, which is odd because Matilda and The Witches and The Twits are some of my most memorable childhood books/films, but this one is super cute。☆ Blog | Twitter ☆ 。。。more

If I could bottle the feeling reading Roald Dahl gives me, label it as "nostalgia" and stick it on eBay it would sell like hot cakes。 It's a totally unique and undeniably child-like adventure down memory lane as his hilarious phrases and oddities fill each page。 I am also partial to a Quentin Blake illustration or two。Billy and the Minpins has all of the fun parts of Dahl's writing, complete with silly words and tumbling onomatopoeia, but it is lacking some of the heart。 Little Billy, as he is r If I could bottle the feeling reading Roald Dahl gives me, label it as "nostalgia" and stick it on eBay it would sell like hot cakes。 It's a totally unique and undeniably child-like adventure down memory lane as his hilarious phrases and oddities fill each page。 I am also partial to a Quentin Blake illustration or two。Billy and the Minpins has all of the fun parts of Dahl's writing, complete with silly words and tumbling onomatopoeia, but it is lacking some of the heart。 Little Billy, as he is repeatedly called (and yes, that gets very annoying very quickly) is warned by his mother not to go into the woods。 But of course as any inquisitive child would do, he goes into the dangerous woods regardless to see if he can spot the infamous monsters in its depths。 There he meets little creatures called the Minpins - small, human-like, beings who converse and fly with birds and live amongst the hollowed out trees。 I guess you could say it's something of a Borrowers-inspired tale。 Unfortunately, I didn't especially care for the story because Little Billy wasn't really my kind of chap, given he is a little underdeveloped as a character and underwhelming in terms of forming attachment to him。 But really the trouble lies within the missing elements; the heart, charm and wonderment that Dahl usually weaves throughout his novels。 。。。more

2。5 rounded up。 This short Audiobook was read by Bill Bailey which was great! However the story wasn’t as great。 Definitely quintessentially Dahl but very similar to his other stories。

Книгата никак не ми хареса! Просто не намерих смисъла。 Не е моето。 Имах чувството докато я четях(дори не съм я прочела изцяло), че е направе на за супер малки деца(някъде на 3-4),а не за тинейджъри, каквато е。☹️
